Caponga, december afternoon

Caponga never bores us, any time of day. Take a walk, late afternoon, just watch the boats, have a drink maybe, somewhere at the boulevard.

4th hole Aquiraz Campo de Golf

From the age of 15 I am fascinated by the game of golf. Brazilians don't play golf! In Brazil they ride horses, in the Serra people hunt. Golf still is a novidade here in Brazil. Near our house they are building Aquiraz Riviera, including a nine hole golfcourse. Preparation took them 10 years to get everything just right. What do you think of the 4th hole, overlooking the ocean and the clubhouse? Not bad huh...?

Play golf near Lua Brisa

We love Brasil because it's pure, simple, honest and because of its free spirit, liberdade.
A couple of miles down the road, only 20 miles from Lua Brisa, you will find the new Aquiraz Riviera. We wouldn't call a 350 million $ project simple, no idea if it's pure or honest either. But they do have a beautiful 9 hole golf course there, the first in Ceara, and we think that is just great!

Fortaleza

Fortaleza is a city of 2.3 million people. You can't think of a bigger contrast than between Forta and villages like Caponga and Aguas Belas. In Aguas Belas it seems as if the past has been frozen, whereas Fortaleza is a vibrant metropole, it has everything big cities have to offer us, she is a beauty and a beast. It took us two years to appreciate her...

Canoa Quebrada

Buggy tour

A buggy tour is a must-do! Initially we thought the buggy was a tourist trap, therefore not for us. That was stupid thinking, of course we are tourists too, even when we think we're not. And a buggy brings you to places you can't reach by car, the beach for example, and the dirtroad just behind it. In a buggy we see the world from a different perspective. The buggy is the Brazilian equivalent of the canaltour in the city of Amsterdam. Convinced?

Baturite

The predominance of the ocean at Aguas Belas would almost let us forget that there is a lovely hinterland as well. Mountains just an hour's drive away, little farms, sitios, and bigger farms, called fazenda's, with waterfalls, not immense but still, and this monastery in Baturite for instance. Nice stuff!
